Are These Part Of Your Social Media Marketing Strategy?

It all starts with a dream, an idea, a concept…

First comes a concept. An idea. A dream. Then, feedback from close friends, family as to if your concept if worth while (not always). Followed by a business plan focusing on financial projections. Lastly, marketing.

We are digital now more ever. New entrepeneurs will anticipate for their social media posts to be shared by friends and family to spread the word about your product or service, and that, in turn, will bring in the big bucks. Rarely does that, although in certain cases it has. Now I’m not saying that you need a million-dollar digital marketing budget by any means, but I am saying you need a simple strategy if you are on a shoestring budget. Here are some very simple, bullet-pointed keys to focus on.

Stand Out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  1. Know your audience. Think like a potential customer. What would they want to know? Essentially, what is your brand and how are you going to verbalize it.

  2. Now that you know your brand, where do your potential or current customers utilize their social media? Is it Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter or TikTok?

  3. Keep up with trends. You will constantly see the same videos shared accross all platforms. TikTok videos show up on Instragram Reels which also tend to go onto Facebook as well. Trends change day to day

  4. Stories over feed posts. The majority of people have an attention span of a fish. Use story posts as much as you can, unless you have an announcement, you want to showcase a certain product or service, share that you received an award etc.

  5. Keep it short! Regardless if it’s a Story or a TikTok video. The shorter they are, the more impactful they are. Also, analytically you will be able to observe how many people re-played videos which shows deliberate interest. You have officially caught their attention.

  6. Study your analytics. This will provide you with insight with what is working and what’s not. Then you can dig into details such as, what pages were viewed the most, what gender, what demographic and what geographical area. This will allow you to cater to certain customers, specific subjects and more.

  7. Connection and community. Staying connected with our community online is essential, and most great brands and marketers know that it is a vital part of their brand strategy.

Human beings crave significance, and that significance often comes from being a part of online communities. Connect with them in any way possible. With a Facebook or Instagram Live, a Zoom Q&A, a Story Poll or Post Poll…there are no many ways to connect digitally with your audience.

With all that being said, my advice is to strategically think about what kind of messaging and image you want your brand to have. Play around with your social media platforms. Ask your friends and family which platforms they prefer and then just take it one step at a time.
